In the early 1990s, renowned British photographer Terry O'Neill captured a poignant image featuring two of England's football legends: Sir Bobby Charlton and a young David Beckham. In this black-and-white photograph, both athletes stand side by side, each adorned in England football kits representative of their respective eras. The composition not only bridges generations but also symbolizes the enduring legacy and continuity of English football. The legendary Faye Dunaway relaxing by the pool at the Beverly Hills Hotel the day after the Oscars, the Beatles in a small-town manner before their big breakthrough, or the legendary Brigitte Bardot in a cheeky cowboy outfit – Terry O'Neill was an absolute titan of fine art photography. Everyone of rank and name eventually made it before his lens, from the Royals to Frank Sinatra and the supermodel lineup of the 90s. Terry O'Neill (1938-2019) was indeed one of the most significant photographers of the 20th century. His candid style helped define the Swinging Sixties look and brought a new intimacy to celebrity photography.

Terry O'Neill
Terry O’Neill was one of the world’s most collected photographers, with work hanging in national art galleries and private collections worldwide. From presidents to pop stars, he photographed the frontline of fame for over six decades.
O’Neill began his career at the birth of the 1960s. While other photographers concentrated on earthquakes, wars and politics, O’Neill realized that youth culture was a breaking news story on a global scale and began chronicling the emerging faces of film, fashion and music who would go on to define the Swinging Sixties. By 1965 he was being commissioned by the biggest magazines and newspapers in the world.
No other photographer embraced the span of fame as O'Neill had, capturing the icons of our age from Winston Churchill to Nelson Mandela, from Frank Sinatra and Elvis to Amy Winehouse, from Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot to Nicole Kidman, as well as every James Bond from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig.
O’Neill photographed The Beatles and The Rolling Stones when they were still struggling young bands in 1963 and pioneered backstage reportage photography with David Bowie, Elton John, The Who, Eric Clapton and Chuck Berry. His images have adorned historic rock albums, movie posters and international magazine covers.

After 30 years of only exhibiting fine art photography, the Robin Rice Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring a selection of her gallery photographers and three visual artists new to the space: Erica Hauser, and Matt Kinney. The selected works of these well-established Beacon, NY artists blend with the gallery’s fine art photography. Upon entering the gallery, viewers will encounter figurative sculptures, abstract paintings, and ink wash drawings alongside fine art photography. Since Robin Rice’s move to Beacon, NY, this concept developed organically; the group exhibition is a fusion of artistic mediums inspired by chance encounters between Rice and friends at art events in Beacon. After spending time with creatives who've spent lockdown in studios, Rice carefully chose works most apropos with her edited inventory of framed photography. Through these chance encounters Rice found inspiration to create this exhibition unlike anything seen before at the gallery and curated an immersive experience.
Maintaining her expert aesthetic, Rice has brought together a mosaic of mediums that seamlessly fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Kinney's collection of ink wash paintings in Japanese Sumi ink and watercolor paintings on hand-torn paper render fleeting glimpses of figures and animals as well as primal symbols. Tasmania Spiral is a hypnotic work that resembles a gyre. Also in focus is Hauser’s collection of abstract paintings featuring an alluring vintage color palette...
