About the Item

"Horatio Street, NYC" is a framed photograph on aluminum by Xan Padron, depicting a compilation of walking figures set against a brown/grey architectural background in NYC. Padron's signature technique of splicing together individual photographs to craft a larger composition creates a unique portrait of his locations. The individuals each evoke a sense of wonder as the snapshots provide a glimpse into the lives of those he's photographing. Limited Edition no. 7 of 25 This piece is finished in a mat silver floater frame. Pricing includes the pictured frame. Unframed dimensions are 45 x 45 inches. About the artist: Xan Padrón (Galicia, Spain 1969) is a Galician photographer, musician, and composer. The son of an old-school journalist, Xan Padrón grew up used to being the silent observer who sees things quietly and finds stories everywhere. He received his first camera at the age of 13 from his Godfather, who was a photo-journalist. In 1983 he first established his darkroom. As a former professional touring musician, traveling the world with his bass and his camera, he was able to pursue his career as a photographer focused on the people around him. Xan Padrón’s fascination with time and movement, coupled with an uncanny ability to disappear behind the lens, unnoticed by his subjects, brought him to the realization of how much life happens even at the most seemingly insignificant location of a city. His work has been exhibited in Spain, Canada, Israel, and the US and has been published worldwide in books, newspapers, magazines, concert programs, posters, and album covers. Xan Padrón's work is part of collections all over the world in countries such as the US, Canada, China, Netherlands, France, Australia, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Japan, Kenya, Spain, Denmark, etc. Xan Padrón is a resident of New York City where he lives and works with his wife: musician, composer, writer and educator Cristina Pato.
