Knit One, Pearl One 8 is a stunning Digital C-Type Print on Fuji Maxima Matte paper, available in this size only from a Limited Edition of 7 + 2 Artist Proofs.
Ellie has been working in the forests of the UK for the past seven years, producing work which explores the complex interrelationship between the landscape and the individual.
What is "landscape"? We use the concept of landscape to achieve a sense of identity so that it becomes much more than just what we see; it becomes a way of seeing.
In Knit One Pearl One, Davies uses her own relationship to the landscape as her starting point. Becoming actively involved with the forest space, weaving a presence into its many leaves and textures, she builds a personal experience for herself and creates an authentic interaction with the space.
The woollen thread marks a slow, deliberate, delicate trajectory: branches and twigs are woven together and linked to form a continuous, sinuous line of movement. The trace of a lone figure passing through the space, like an ephemeral self-portrait. Weaving, sewing, threading, and connecting the woollen thread ties the artist tangibly and metaphorically to the forest.
The visible process of making in these images adds a further layer of reflection to the forest space by allowing the viewer to see the constructed nature of the landscape. Can we ever gain access to the natural world on its own terms?

Ellie Davies
Ellie Davies is a fine art photographer who completed an MA in photography at the London College of Communication in 2008. Davies has been working in the forests of the UK for the past seven years, producing work that explores the complex interrelationship between the landscape and the individual. Her career goes from strength to strength. In 2017, she won the Magnum Photography Award, Fine Art Category and The People's Choice Award at the Aesthetica Art Prize 2016 both for her Stars series. She has also been awarded prizes at many prestigious Art Awards, including 1st place in the 2015 Smithsonian Photo Contest. She was recognized at the Barcelona International Photography Awards - Top 50 Photographers 2015 and was the Selectors Choice of the Royal Photographic Society’s 2015 Annual Exhibition. Davies has also been awarded the Kontinent Awards (2014), Art Gemini (2014), the Professional Women Photographers International Juried Exhibition (2012), Lens Culture International Exposure Awards (2011) and the PX3 Paris Prix de la Awards (2010). Her work has been extensively exhibited in solo and group shows in The Netherlands, London, Paris, Budapest, Kyiv, Moscow, St. Petersburg, The Rencontres d'Arles and last year at The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Center, Northern Ireland and the Houston Centre for Photography. Davies’s work explores the fabricated nature of the landscape by making a variety of temporary and non-invasive interventions in the forest, which places the viewer in the gap between reality and fantasy. Creating this space encourages the viewer to re-evaluate how their relationship with the landscape is formed, and the extent to which it is a product of cultural heritage or personal experience.

Patrick Beaulieu’s most recent project Révélations uses installation and digital prints to explore how artistic manipulation can create shifts in one’s expectations of the visual experience. Beaulieu clearly acknowledges his artistic presence in the work through mechanical and digital manipulation of the objects and images he presents. He becomes more than a passive observer and recorder of his physical world; the alteration of conventional photographs implants his voice and vision into the work. This approach directly addresses and contrasts artistic practices which seek to conceal the artist’s hand. His method diverges from those that attempt to present an uninterrupted and uncontaminated record, such as some documentary and straight photography. In using these stylized techniques, Beaulieu makes a palpable proclamation regarding the subjective and flexible condition of images.
