About the Item

An endless road is pictured in a timeless landscape. As the road winds through the vast expanse of the American West, the grandeur of the surrounding landscape minimizes a solitary car, communicating the feeling of Man being dwarfed by Nature. The warm color scheme of the road seamlessly integrates with brushy magenta topography and cool blue misty mountains. The challenge for photographer Mitchell Funk, was to make something interesting out of what normally is a dull grey landscape. Funk is a colorist; his lighting transforms a grey-scape into a beautiful image of unexpected colors. All life is fleeting, and within minutes after this shot was taken, the sky became cloudy, and the magical golden road reverted to grey. Signed, dated and numbered, 2/15 recto, unframed, printed later, other sizes available. This work is printed on fine art Hahnemuhle paper. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Brooklyn Museum, show "Images en Couleur" . 1971 Included he was included in the visionary book "Frontiers of Photography" Time Life. Color ! American Photography Transformed. Amon Carter Museum . He has had more than 50 Photography Magazine Covers and has had covers on Newsweek and Life Magazine
