About the Item
Color Photographer Mitchell Funk depicts New York City somewhere between the ideal and the real. In an Upper East Side park, he shoots a lone white dog standing at the intersection of two cracks in the asphalt and among scattered, evenly distributed autumn leaves. Although this is a caught moment of an alert dog, there is something perfect about how the image is put together. Funk is atop a highrise looking down and not only capturing a moment in time but has created a photograph that straddles representation and abstraction. The photograph is signed, dated lower right and numbered verso 3 /15, Unframed, printed later, Other sizes are available. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper

Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
