About the Item
The weather phenomenon that defines San Francisco, fog, separates a party of Kayakers from the iconic skyline. It puts them into an enigmatic limbo-like state. Photographer Mitchell Funk composes the image that divides the pictorial area into three horizontal bands and embraces an off-color blue. The arrangement of the Kayakers mimics the shape of the skyline. Glistening light pops off the water's surface and counterbalances the cumulus cloud-like fog. The image is surreal, with figures padding into a foggy state that is outside the realm of human sense perception.
Signed, dated, numbered on 2/15 lower right , Unframed, printed later on Hahnemühle paper. Other sizes available

Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
