About the Item

This contemporary minimalist seaside photo, "Sunset horizon ," was captured by French artist and photographer Natalya Mougenot during her travels in Italy. With this photo Natalya sought to portray the quiet beauty of a summer evening by the sea — a reminder to find joy in life’s simple, fleeting moments. In a world where we often chase after material possessions, she invites us to pause and appreciate the priceless gifts that surround us: the warmth of fading sunlight, the gentle rhythm of the sea, and the serenity of a still evening. For Natalya, such scenes embody the fragility of life and the importance of being present — of savoring every minute. This mesmerizing photography captures a tranquil seaside setting at sunset, where vibrant hues of purple and orange illuminate the horizon. The serene sea stretches infinitely, meeting a sky that transitions smoothly into deeper blue tones, sprinkled with soft clouds. The reflective pool in the foreground mirrors the sky's vivid colors, creating a seamless blend between reality and reflection. A row of loungers and umbrellas line the poolside, inviting moments of peaceful contemplation. The composition elegantly balances symmetry and natural beauty, invoking a sense of calm and introspection. This scene's enchanting tranquility and harmonious color palette make it a captivating study of light, water, and serene landscapes. A painter by background, Mougenot brings a subtle, poetic sensibility to photography. Her work is contemplative, quiet, and deeply rooted in presence. Artist Biography: Natalya Mougenot is a painter whose artistic vision naturally extends into photography. Her work is guided by a deep appreciation for simplicity, authenticity, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. She was born in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, and moved to France in 2003. Now based in Lyon, she draws inspiration from her surroundings as well as from her travels, which have offered countless opportunities to observe and capture subtle, fleeting moments — the kind that stay with us. Her relationship with photography began at the age of 11, when she received her first Polaroid camera. Though not formally trained in photography, her intuitive and spontaneous approach brings a uniquely sensitive perspective. She does not seek to reinvent the world through her lens — rather, she embraces it as it is. Before fully embracing painting in 2017, Natalya had already been passionate about photography for years. This deep connection with capturing life’s fleeting instants naturally informed and enriched her painterly practice. Her photographs often serve as visual notes — some evolving into paintings, others left untouched — all expressing stillness, presence, and a lived moment held gently in time. Natalya says about her photography practice: "I seek to capture the honest, unguarded moments of life — simple, timeless fragments that reveal the poetry in everyday existence. My photography, like my painting, embraces presence and authenticity, creating quiet visual stories that invite reflection and feeling.

Self Portrait on Holiday in Athens, Greece (Slim Aarons Estate Edition)
By Slim Aarons
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Legendary photographer Slim Aarons relaxes in a self portrait shot in Athens, near the Acropolis. Slim Aarons said, "I love a solo holiday. It tends to refresh the part of oneself that is most depleted by modern life — patience. "Let me dispel a few myths. You will be lonely. No: you won’t. My solo travels in Paris have brought many perfect hours of being alone but not a moment of loneliness. People who depend on other people are often in hiding from themselves. Two and a quarter million people live in the City of Light: you will see many of them and you will pass them in the street, but when you see Notre Dame after dark and walk home and perhaps stop to have a drink in the Marais, you can feel that the only thing that is missing from your experience is the common dependency on someone to distract your attention. "I’ve had solo pints of Guinness in the pubs of County Kerry and County Cork. I’ve walked across the sage- and juniper-scented maquis of Corsica on a spring day, where you can still find the world of Napoleon’s childhood. More than once I went to the Isle of Iona in the Scottish Hebrides...
