About the Item
The series 'Trespassing' explores encounters between human and nature. Human-made objects are placed into a landscape, where their interactions with the natural elements are recorded. In this image, a long exposure allows traces of a white floating fabric to reveal the forces and movements of the wind, usually unseen and not immediately visible to our eyes. In this piece Brodersen faintly suggests an amorphous cloud looming over the icy blue waters. The cloud has an unnatural, wispy form, which comes to a point, almost like a tornado.
Ole Brodersen grew up on a small island with 60 inhabitants, and his class only had 3 people, including himself. He became engulfed in the world of sailing as he was the son of a sailmaker and the grandson of a captain. He is educated as an art director from one of the top 10 creative schools in the world. Brodersen recently finished assisting the fine-art photographer Dag Alveng (represented at amongst others the MoMA and the Met). All his works are photographed on and around his home-island. He develops his negatives in the kitchen of his grandparents home from the 1850s.
