This photograph depicts a young woman from the torso up, her gaze directed at the viewer. The pose, expression, and choice of earring explicitly reference a significant artwork in art history: "Girl with a Pearl Earring" (circa 1665) by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer.
Ronald Martinez’s artistic nude and still life photographs emerge from his unique reinterpretation of sacred, symbolic, and profane themes found in Renaissance paintings. Ronald Martinez's artistic nude photographs reveal the beauty of the body through the delicate, deep interplay of light created using the chiaroscuro technique.
