The black and white photograph from the 1950s captures the famed cinema director Otto Preminger reading the publication Variety. Otto Preminger, 1959 by Burt Glinn is a gelatin silver press print, 14" x 11" signed by the photographer on photo recto (front of photo) bottom right margin. Provenance: Glinn Estate *** Artist’s Bio: Born 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, photographer Burt Glinn worked for LIFE magazine before joining Magnum photo agency. He photographed personalities throughout the 1950s and 60s, continuing to work commercially and editorially for more than five decades in the US and abroad on assignment, until his death in 2008. The artist photographed revolutionary leader Fidel Castro entrance into Havana, Cuba, celebrity and art luminaries such as Andy Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler. Subject matter included the social scene of the rich, the dirtiness of politics, and the humorous.
