About the Item
Taken is 1995 this monochromatic photograph of Tom Petty presents the musician in a contemplative pose. Seliger photographed Petty for a Rolling Stone cover then continued to work with him through the year, eventaully co-directing the music video for 'Leave Virginia Alone' with Petty's daughter Adria.
Photograph is 16"x13" unframed.
Texan born, Mark Seliger, is of one of the most significant celebrity portrait photographers of our time.
As the Chief Photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine between 1980 and the early 2000’s, Seliger shot over 125 covers featuring the world’s top musicians and actors, such as David Bowie, John Travolta, Keith Richards and Diane Kruger. He has since continued to collaborate with high profile magazines, such as Vanity Fair, GQ, Vogue and Details. He spends most of his time in his New York Studio preparing for major retrospective exhibits world-wide, from Paris to London to Los Angeles.
Seliger’s photographs are also a part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, National Art Gallery of London and the Holocaust Museum in Houston, TX.
Mark Seliger has published several books and his photographs have won countless international awards.

Mark Seliger
Mark Seliger, an American photographer, began a successful career with Rolling Stone magazine in the 1980s and soon became the magazine's chief photographer and remained in that position until 2002. During his career with Rolling Stone, he was responsible for the creation of over 100 magazine covers. Seliger has also photographed covers for GQ, Vanity Fair and other similar magazines. His portrait work takes on a wide range of subjects, from pop idols to political figures and he established himself through the portrait photos of the greatest Hollywood stars. His style of photography brings together classic styles with more modern looks and a timeless visualization of society.
