About the Item

All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. Joachim Schmeisser is a German photographer who is specifically focused on Wildlife photography. But not only does he deliver extraordinary and beautiful portraits of majestic animals, he also raises awareness for wildlife welfare, being disrupted and destroyed by human activity. Black and white portraits of species like lions, elephants, and rhinos, that got captured by Schmeisser during his trips to multiple African countries and local African Wildlife trusts since 2009, give off emotions like no other type of portraits. The mood given through the monochrome theme, the wide skies and the close-up on the animals, reflects reality and often not a joyful one. In his book “Die letzten ihrer Art” he describes the wildlife situation as irrecoverable, and his despair and sadness are reflected in his works. The animals staring deep into the wilderness, and the focus often being put onto the eyes, gives this constant reflection of the animal’s minds into the picture. Schmeisser really wants to showcase the efforts we should make to keep these magnificent creatures on the surface of the globe.
