About the Item
Geister or 'Ghost Ship' series from Nina Dietzel. Stunning on own, or paired with other images from the series. Surface mounted to polished plexiglass so that the photograph appears to "float" approximately 2 inches over the wall. The archival pigment print is mounted to plexiglass and then backed with a thin sheet of aluminum and recessed white wood subframe. Contemporary, minimal and elegant in appearance. This print is from a series of Shost Ships that the artist took in the Bay Area, where the old ships have been left in quiet solitude.
Nina Dietzel has contributed photography to The New York Times, National Geographic, Forbes, Fodor, The Lonely Planet, AFAR Magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Cairo Observer, and other publications. Her portfolio ranges from intense, fast-paced assignments—such as photographing former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Benjamin Netanyahu and other heads of state—to more intimate settings, such as quietly photographing artists at work. Assignments include a collaboration with British sculptor and environmentalist Andy Goldsworthy, documenting the making of @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz, and photographing Mark di Suvero's sculptures at his open-air fabrication studio in Sonoma County.
Dietzel is an AFAR Brand Ambassador, part of a select group of influential travel writers and photographers who share AFAR's vision and passion for authentic travel. Dietzel is a regular contributor to Getty Images.
Dietzel’s personal work has been exhibited in the United States and in Germany and is collected worldwide. Each work is artist signed, editioned and in excellent condition
