About the Item
This monumental outdoor sculpture is rendered in a contemporary geometric form.
Amin Sadraei Tabatabai creates arresting sculptural work that embraces tradition and re-imagines it in modern form. His masterful work can be found in many countries beyond his Iranian birthplace. This bold minimalist sculpture forged in steel appears to be shaped like a sunburst. Shamsé means “sun” in Persian, and it’s also the name of a special pattern found in Iranian art and architecture. With this dynamic piece, Amin is honouring his rich heritage that views Shamsé as a symbol of light and energy.
“This piece is part of my Architectural Forms series, which draws inspiration from traditional Iranian design and reinterprets them in contemporary sculptural language. Now reimagined in a Canadian landscape, Shamsé becomes more than a reflection of heritage; it is a gesture of belonging. It creates a dialogue between cultures, architecture, and the environment. Its minimalist geometry invites reflection, while its cultural roots offer continuity and meaning.” Amin
Amin Sadraei Tabatabai is an Iranian sculptor known for over twenty public art installations across Iran. Amin obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from a University in Tehran. He is also a permanent member of the Association of Sculptors of Iran. In addition to his sculptural artwork, he has designed pavilion facades for the Iran and Germany exhibits at the Dubai Festival and founded the Saro Visual Arts School. Amin’s work explores themes of connectivity, community, and cultural identity, blending modern aesthetics with traditional influences. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in various countries.
He recently moved to Toronto, Ontario, where he continues his artistic journey.

Free Flow - Abstract Geometric Form, Hand Painted Welded Steel Sculpture
By Chris Hill

This dynamic table sized sculpture is created from sheets of steel and rods, welded together in an abstract geometric pattern. While the work adheres to a rigid, rational geometry, this sculptures suggest lyrical movement, apparent weightlessness and improvisation as the title suggests.
