Celadon 3 from Chloe Hedden’s Fold Series envelops the viewer in the quiet drama of form, color, and materiality. Created from hand-dyed linen on linen, the piece merges tonal subtlety with sculptural movement. The luminous celadon hue—cool yet vibrant—evokes the serenity of water or porcelain glaze, while the gathered folds ripple with an organic, bodily presence. Draped across a linen-covered canvas, the fabric forms a living topography that invites contemplation of both material excess and restraint. Hedden’s handling of the textile is intuitive yet precise, allowing the fabric to settle into spontaneous gestures while maintaining compositional harmony. In this work, the act of folding becomes both meditative and expressive—a gesture of compression and release. About artist:
Born in Utah (USA), Chloe Hedden looks for the unseen patterns and hidden narratives that reveal the magnificence in all things. According to the artist, there is a still point in every moment and to capture this essential luminescence is what she aims for in her practice. Chloe makes use of archetypes from the cultural and mystical history to inform her work. It is through this inspiration that she created her latest body of work comprised of intricately folded Burlap wall sculptures. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002, Chloe's paintings and sculptures can be found in numerous public and private collections.

I was born and raised in Utah's wild red desert, but have had the great fortune to call many amazing places around the world my home. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, I am as comfortable painting large oils as I am illustrating children’s books. In 2007, I won an International Creativity award in the category of commercial illustration for “The Peaceful Warrior.” My first children’s book, “The Illuminated Desert,” written by Terry Tempest Williams and published by the Canyonlands Natural History Association in 2008, won The Mountains and Plains Bookseller’s Award for Best Children’s Book. My paintings and sculptures can we found in numerous public and private collections around the world.
