About the Item

Erica Iman received her BFA in Ceramics and BSE in Art from the University of Missouri Columbia in 2005 and obtained her MFA in Ceramics from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2012. Iman is a studio artist in Kansas City and a founding member of the KC Urban Potters. Both a sculptor and a painter, the artist works primarily in clay and raw earth materials. References to landscape and natural phenomena are often evident in her 3-dimensional forms, 2-dimensional compositions, and working processes. These works are abstracted, yet they resemble the geological features of their origin, such as glacial ice or weathered rock. By creating work using the material’s inherent properties and mimicking processes from nature, Iman seeks the essence of the material’s structure and the qualities it naturally possesses.

Bee bowl
Located in Ciudad de México, MX
Within the framework of a collective and cultural exchange, where the current artistic work needs conscious active voices, Claudio Jerónimo puts on the table an urgent discussion about the sustainability of the vital balance and the essential role of bees to maintain said balance. Communication, relationship, and reciprocal influences of the cycle that sustains life in the world, which in the service of "progress" has been affected by excessive and devastating human activity reaching a point of no return. It is a call to action...
