A playful monumental sculpture by Jeff Glode Wise in welded and powder-coated steel with a cut-glass sphere.
Jeff Glode Wise makes wildly exuberant sculptures. He utilizes such diverse materials as steel, wood, stone, glass, concrete, bronze, and gold -- whichever is the most appropriate for the aesthetic and functional purposes at hand. He then transforms these materials through various techniques and crafts honed for years through his practice of jewelry making: welding, carving, casting, meticulous fitting, plating, etc.
Art and the making of objects have defined Jeff Wise’s entire life. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions throughout the US, and in Spain and Germany, and can be found in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institute National Museum of American Art, Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C., the Museum of Art and Design in New York City, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art in Denver, Colorado. In addition to his purely sculptural work, architecture has long been of parallel interest. He has built three significant art homes and received commissions for architectural landscaping projects in cast concrete, welded steel, and glass.

"Philomena Dates a Photon" mixed media sculpture

This large-scale suspended sculpture is made from welded and powder-coated steel, repurposed highway reflectors, and a cut-glass sphere. "Spinning to Sagittarius" kinetic sculpture

This stunning kinetic sculpture is made of welded, powdercoated, and painted steel in white and gradient shades of metallic pink, spiraling at the top of a tall pole. The colorful top section is counterbalanced by a brake drum and concrete cone that moves inside of a steel cage over an embedded base made of cast iron antique man-hole covers. It catches even the slightest breeze for near-constant movement!
