About the Item

Ceramic & steel + wooden pedestal, unique piece 212 x 120 x 98 cm - dimensions including the pedestal 150 Kg "Plant" ceramics is an analysis of the aesthetic and biological structure of a plant of a given species. I found the principles of form and rhythm in the study of natural objects such as plants, pebbles, rocks, bones, trees... In nature there is an infinite variety of shapes and rhythms... from which the sculptor can expand his experience of knowledge of form and create anew your own unique visual language. My transformation process, which consisted of many stages, often did not follow a linear pattern, it evolved from a narrative, antique, figurative to an abstract form. Creating from the study of nature proceeds through analysis of the environment around us. In my works, one small piece of plasticine squeezed between sculptures, a piece neglected on the floor or an element of forgotten plaster can inspire a series of sketches, or be incorporated into a sculpture. From there the ideas evolved. I recorded in detail the variety of natural forms and raw materials that I found in the studio, such as cuttings, scraps, sometimes a rotten piece of bread with mold growing on it, or spiders that like to live in sculptures. My instinct told me to respect the physical and aesthetic properties of every material, both living and biological. A bunch of cauliflower, unusual plants with geometric forms, such as: Haworthia limifolia taught me how to build form in sculpture. This huge database of diversity of natural forms prompted me to create a completely new plant, non-existent in nature, coming from my imagination. By using natural objects, I allow nature to suggest ideas and drive their translation into sculptural forms. The work "Plant" was created as part of the Sculpture Symposium held at the Center of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko. The symposium was devoted to the topic of "The Forces of Nature" and the famous thought of Heraclitus: "Everything flows, nothing stands still" Kate Yagoshevski is a Polish artist born in 1984 who lives and works in Szczecinek, Poland. She is graduated in painting with an annex to the diploma in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland. In 2008, Yagoshevski carried out a photography project from the film set „The Mill and the Cross” drama, directed by Lech Majewski. In 2015, her sculpture was invited to Museu Europeu d’Art Modern Barcelona. Furthermore, her sculptures are also exhibited in the permanent collection of the National Museum in Gdańsk, Poland. The sculptures are also in many other art collections in United Arab Emirates, United States, Canada, France, Belgium , Austria, Poland and Lithuania. Recent exhibitions include the prestigious Center of Polish Sculpture, Orońsko, Mark Rothko Art Center, Latvia, Arsenal Contemporary Montreal. Her work was exhibited at art fairs in Vilnius, Vienna and Warsaw. In 2019 she won the national competition ,,Jutronauci” for artists and scientists creating the future. The competition was organized by the newspaper „Wyborcza” and Kulczyk Investments. Yagoshevski is known as one of the artists at the forefront of new artistic theories and practices exploring the theory of Synesthesia in contemporary art and society. In style of works she refer to nature, assuming biomorphic shapes . Her work is also in the permanent collection of the National Museum in Poland. 'Untitled Assemblage #S3-23', by John Wolfe, Mixed Media Abstract Sculpture
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
John Wolfe's Mixed Media Abstract Sculpture, "Untitled Assemblage #S 3-23" brings together wood, steel, ceramic elements, and acrylic paint. The warm colors of the wood and painted ceramic elements soften the feel of the rectilinear arrangement. The shallow depth of the work gives the sculpture a kind of "drawing" quality while the shadows it casts lend a more expansive feel. The heavy, dark wood base anchors all aspects of the work in place. This work is the perfect tabletop piece. It's large enough to command attention, but also subtle in its open framework arrangement. John Wolfe was born in Vernon...

All That Remains, Abstract Sculpture (Ceramic and Steel), 2020
By Fred Klingelhofer
Located in Boston, MA
Artist Commentary: I constructed this piece from the setters I used to fire the ceramic pieces of another sculpture along with some of the glaze test tiles. When I saw these "scraps" sitting together there was a visual harmony that suggested a new use for them. Keywords: abstract, welded metal, Artist Biography: Fred Klingelhofer, a primarily self-taught artist, grew up in a Chicago south side neighborhood. He received a BS degree in physics from Roosevelt University and worked as an engineer for 30 years. During those years he enrolled in art workshops and classes at a nearby community college completing courses in figure drawing, 2D and 3D design, ceramics, sculpting the figure, welding and metal sculpture. His focus has been on creating sculpture since 2006. Fred has exhibited his sculpture in a number of group exhibitions with Chicago Sculpture International, Art Prize (Grand Rapids, Michigan), Sculpture in the Park (St Charles, Illinois), Sculpture Walk Sioux Falls...
