About the Item
Bloom No. 3 from the Bloom Series by Norman Mooney
Edition of 10 + 2AP
Corten steel
Inspired by the work of the 19th century biologist Ernst Haeckel and his study of microbes, the Bloom series is an exploration into and a study of the geometry of structures. The work celebrates the remarkable diversity of form, pattern, shape and materiality found in nature and the synergy that connects it. This series also examines our own sense of space, our physical awareness and how we interact with the environment around us. Norman Mooney is an Irish artist located in New York City and has been exhibiting locally and internationally for more than 20 years.
His sculptures are both physical and metaphysical. His work explores the elemental and cyclical synergies of nature. Materiality, pattern, scale and experience are key concerns within his practice. Norman makes sculpture, interior and exterior installations, drawings and works on paper, his methodology is one of experimentation and process with materials such as smoke, glass, steel and resin.

Abstract Metal Sculpture in steel
Joel Perlman has been creating complex sculptures out of steel, bronze, and aluminum since the early 1970's. While minimalism was the predominant style of his genration, Perlman chose to push his forms into ever-more complicated, gravity defying, configurations. Perlman investigates with originality. He expands, rather than appropriates, enriching our experience with industrial materials.
