About the Item

Sara Fine-Wilsons “Tattered” is a gestural 17 x 8 x 9 inch ceramic sculpture in pale aqua, green, lavender, cream and gray. In this evocative sculpture individual slab elements are assembled, layered in glaze in areas while other areas are left bare to highlight the natural color of the clay in a reduced atmosphere. This piece has a relic like quality as glaze settles over areas of cracks and rough edges. Fine-Wilson combines both raw and refined aesthetic qualities in her work by incorporating smooth, glossy, matte, rough and cracked surfaces. Sara Fine-Wilson is a contemporary sculptor based in the Boston area. In  her work she explores ideas about the emerging form of our subconscious mind. She also explores material, process and pushes boundaries. Fine-Wilson is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston, MA.
