About the Item
Sofia Horbachevska is a Ukrainian ceramic artist based in Kyiv, where she works in her own studio. A graduate of the Mykhailo Boychuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design, she specializes in sculptural ceramics, exploring the human body’s form, rhythm, and fluidity.
Clay is her chosen medium—alive, plastic, and ever-changing—mirroring the organic nature of the body itself. Using the coiling technique, she meticulously builds each piece by hand, millimeter by millimeter. This slow, meditative process allows her to capture movement, emotion, and raw beauty in pure, unembellished forms.
“My goal is to convey the incredible beauty that evokes emotions: euphoria, ecstasy, catharsis,” she says. “I don't aim to replicate the human form but rather to recreate the feelings it inspires.”
Through her work, Horbachevska searches for the perfect line that defines shape, giving it weight and presence. Her sculptures are not mere representations but visceral experiences—embodied emotions, frozen in clay yet pulsating with life.
