About the Item

When Charles Cary Rumsey was a regular with the Orange County Hunt he modelled the group using as his inspiration an old character named Channing Rector, who lived between The Plains and Marshall near the present Darlington saw mill. Sz: 16 1/2" x 21 1/2" x 6 1/2" Weight: 25lbs Signed CC Rumsey '16 on lower right corner of plinth base *missing rear hound's 1/2 tail extention* *Requires 'White Glove' shipping at buyer's expense* The Artist, Charles Rumsey, was a child prodigy sent to Paris as a young boy to study sculpture. He later was a world class sportsmen including being an 8 goal polo player with Meadow Brook Polo Club Long Island NY. His knowledge of all animals from Horses to Dogs and other wildlife gave him the ability to sculpt them as we see them, perfectly depicted. He did heroic size sculptures that remain in Public Spaces such as the large frieze above the Manhattan Bridge in NYC as well as the famous Smithtown Bull in Smithtown Long Island. He has been exhibited and included in the permanent collection of the most important Museums worldwide.
