"Los Infortunios de la Virtud" (The Misfortunes of Virtue) leaves behind a dichotomous trace of manifest sophistication and delicacy, shaped by characters, situations, atmospheres, and objects that constitute a story very similar to a cautionary tale that does not let itself be dragged by something so ephemeral and vulgar as good taste, but to is governed by an irony that always chisels with his intelligent chisel and serves as a synecdoche argument.
Born in the city of Monterrey Nuevo León in 1973, Armando de la Garza began his painting studies at a very young age but it was not until 1995 that he finished studying architecture and began his professional career in the art world. He has exhibited in more than 40 group exhibitions in the USA, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Australia, Italy, Spain, and Mexico.
Individually he has exhibited more than 25 times highlighting "Anywhere This May Be" in Ginocchio Gallery in DF, "Once Upon a Time" at the Center for the Arts of the city of Monterrey, "ID" in Emma Molina Gallery, San Pedro Garza Garcia. "The Misfortunes of Virtue" Oblyon Gallery, Barcelona, ??Spain, "Horror Vacui" Gallery Isabel Croxatto, Santiago de Chile "Portraits of the court" eleventh alternative gallery or "Biota" in the space of Area Creative 42 in Rivarolo Italy, among others. He has been awarded several awards such as the acquisition prize in the XVII Review of the plastic Nuevoleonesa and first place in the first biennial of the German Cultural Center as well as selections in the IX FEMSA Biennial and in different issues of the Review of plastic Nuevoleonesa, and the National Encounter of young art among others.

Pieta. Porcelain Sculpture with hand-painted details
Located in Miami Beach, FL
“This piece is part of the Historic Jar Collection and represents a new perspective on the Pieta. Throughout history, the Pieta is a form of narrative that represents Mary holding Jesus after his crucifixion. By replacing Jesus and loving Mary’s traditional appearance, the two women's images become the apex of women caring for other women.”
The three series that make up her thesis show all center around the woman as an art historical trope who becomes a contemporary archetype of tenderness and tenacity with her own narrative. The tradition of the woman as muse or object is questioned and turned upside down as she gives her women the position of subject, i.e., the position of power. The jars, which uphold pairs of women, are the ultimate overturn of male dominance as she removes and replaces all male characters from famous artworks with women...
