About the Item
Prendoni Attilio Sculpture of Girl Child in Carrara Marble Biaco signed on the molded plinth, depicts a young girl with her hair gathered by a bow, a maiden with a shy attitude as indicated by her lowered head, her gaze intent on the hands placed on the beautiful light dress and her feet together as she is leaning against a low wall.
Attilio Prendoni (Milan 1874-1942) was an important Italian sculptor; he was a representative of the Milanese scapigliatura school. He participated in several international exhibitions including in 1904 at the Italian Exhibition Earl's Court in London, organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in London.
Good state of preservation of this Deco sculpture from the early 1900s carved from white Carrara marble, comes from the private collection of a noble Milanese family.
