About the Item

Charles Rumsey was an avid sportsman, horseman and a child prodigy in sculpting sent to Paris to study as a boy. His life of hunting fishing and riding gave him insights into the anatomy and movements of animals. He was in the cavalry, he was an 8 goal Polo Player with Meadowbrook Polo Club on Long Island NY. Many of his large heroic sculptures are found in public spaces around the world including the large bronze frieze above the Manhattan Bridge in NYC. His art has been exhibited, and collected in the permanent collections, of Museums worldwide including the Museum of Modern Art, NY, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC. Beaux Arts Center Paris, France, The Burchfiled Museum of Art Buffalo NY and the Cody Museum of Art Wyomming. Lynda Anderson Galleries in NY has represented the work of the artist for over 30 years.
