Christian Thomsen
Royal Copenhagen Figure Carving Boy / - Immersed in concentration -

1967

About the Item

Christian Thomsen (1860 Kolding - 1921 Copenhagen), Carving boy, design around 1915, execution 1966. model number 905. First choice. Porcelain with underglaze painting. 18.5 cm (height) x 9 cm (length) x 9 cm (depth). With the initials of Christian Thomsen on the back of the plinth, marked and numbered under the base. - in perfect condition - Immersed in concentration - The boy is completely absorbed in the activity of carving, which is emphasised by the fact that we can barely see his finely carved face. What we do see, however, is the artistically designed incision of the carving knife into the stick. It may be a fishing rod, which complements the net draped around his shoulder. Despite the moment depicted, there is a timelessness to the image due to the boy's concentration. GERMAN VERSION Christian Thomsen (1860 Kolding - 1921 Kopenhagen), Schnitzender Junge, Entwurf um 1915, Ausführung 1966. Modellnummer 905. Erste Wahl.
