A charming allegory for Dawn

A spellbinding female figural statue of Selene, the Greek lunar goddess of the moon, who presides over the months. Depicted with her archetypal crescent moon crown and reaching for a five point star, she soars above the globe with her gaze cast down at the curling clouds and bursting sun that rest behind her calf. A soft fabric cascades from her outstretched palm and spills onto her front, providing a sheath for a bit of modesty. The swirling drapery winds its way from the top of her hand, around her body, and finishes at the clouds behind her legs: the complicated folds of drapery and her luscious curls show especially delicate carving.
