Georges Lavroff
Georgi Dmitrievich Lavrov or Georges Lavroff was born in Siberia on April 18, 1895. He first produced sculptures in Siberia, then later in Moscow. In 1927, Lavroff was sent to France where he created many Art Deco animal sculptures in bronze and ceramics. These sculptures brought him fame in the Western world. In 1935, he returned to Moscow where he became an official artist and created monumental sculptures and busts of Soviet rulers. Lavroff died on August 29, 1991, in Moscow.
