Leona is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Marie Louise Sorbac, dimensions are 65 × 36 × 46 cm (25.6 × 14.2 × 18.1 in).
The sculpture is signed and numbered, it is part of a limited edition of 8 editions + 4 artist’s proofs, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
With this sculpture, Marie Louise Sorbac celebrates nature and the animal kingdom. Leona represents a lioness.
Leona is available in different finish:

Marie Louise Sorbac is widely known for her bronze bestiary. She models animals with such perfect proportions which quickly take shape thanks to a radically simple line. Minimalist and clearcut, Marie Louise Sorbac’s horde of animals is none the least warm and touching. Each one with its own name, Pablo the bull, Serena the lioness, Prosper the bear and Valentin the elephant… All brought to life in very “domestic” dimensions, between 30 and 50 centimetres tall, they become more like daily companions than fixed figurines.
In 2015 Marie Louise Sorbac obtained the François Pompon award for her sculptures Paloma and Prosper.

Marie Louise Sorbac
Marie Louise Sorbac is renowned for her work in animal sculpture. Minimalist and clearcut, her bestiary is nonetheless warm and touching. Each animal has its own name, its own mythology, and reflects a part of the artist’s personality. The bronze, patinated or polished with great skill, also bestows on these animals an elegance accompanying the simplicity of their outlines. The sculptress had the opportunity to see her work on display in prestigious locations like UNESCO and the Argentine embassy. In 2015, she received the François Pompon award at the National Beaux Arts show in Paris. “The lines don’t stop at the material, the lines actually continue, it’s as if they are in space, it’s as if they are dancing in space, it’s as if they are crossing somewhere.”
