About the Item
The dogs and their human companion bravely traverse an endangered earth. Cast bronze sculpture, in an edition of 5.
The human figure is 7 ½” x 4” x 2 ½”; the largest dog is 3 ½” h x 6 ½” long x 1 ¼” wide; the smallest dog is: 1 ½” x 2 ¾” x ½”, the "earth" base is approximately 11" x 11" . Weight of the sculpture: 16 lbs.
The bronze dogs and figure are mounted onto the bronze base with threaded rods; countersunk and silver soldered.
Artist Noa Bornstein describes herself as “a draw-er”. Many of her sculptures begin as a quick drawing or impression - from memory, from dreams, or from life itself. “Watching a man walking down the street, I take out my little pad and am compelled to capture something of his gait, the rhythm, shape, whatever attracts my attention,” says Bornstein.
Figurative sculptor and painter Noa Bornstein was born in San Rafael, California, and grew up mostly in Los Angeles. She has lived and worked in New York City since 1986. Bornstein holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of California at Santa Cruz. Her sculptures have been shown at the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art in Florida, the Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn, and Grounds for Sculpture, Toad Hall Gallery in New Jersey. Public installations include Lakeland, Florida, sponsored by the Polk Museum of Art, TriBeCa Park in Manhattan, as well as several parks in New Jersey and Baltimore. In 2009, the Walter Randel Gallery in New York City exhibited Bornstein’s sculptures as part of a group show integrated with ancient sculptures from around the world. Her work has been featured in Art in America and in Artnews, among many other publications.

Noa Bornstein

"I was born and raised in Chicago," Linn says, "and in 1956 before my 13th birthday, my father took me to Maxwell Street to buy me my first suit. This was a momentous occasion, not because I was getting a suit, but it was my introduction to the blues. Maxwell Street was the center of Jewish pushcart commerce and haberdashery emporiums, it was also where black blues musicians congregated, played, and thrived in harmony with their neighbors. My dad let me stay and listen that day and I became a life-long fan."
