About the Item
Expressionist lost-wax bronze ensemble channels raw earthen textures and emotive form through five blind wanderers exploring uncertainty by tactile sensation. This exclusive set of five figures—Replica Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 from Óscar Aldonza Torres’s Os Extravagantes series—stands 28 cm tall each, with a combined footprint of approximately 28 × 12 cm (depth) when arranged in sequence. Individually hand-cast by the artist using the traditional cire-perdue technique, each bronze retains unique mold irregularities—fissured limbs, sinewy torsos, and outreached hands—that reinforce the organic dialogue between material investigation and spontaneous form-finding. Layered verdigris and warm brown patina accentuate every contour, evoking figures emerging from soil as if guided by their fingertips through the air in search of companionship.
As blind wanderers lost in a world of uncertainties, these five Errantes embody Aldonza’s recurring exploration of identity, existential fragility, and the emotional ambivalence at the heart of human experience. Their tilted heads and open gestures invite viewers into an intimate, earth-inspired encounter, reflecting the artist’s impulsive, experimental process and his commitment to natural, Giacometti-inspired textural contrasts.
Collectors may acquire this advantageous five-piece grouping at a preferred rate, while individual sculptures and other groupings from this limited edition of seven remain available in our catalog. Each piece preserves its own evidence of the original mold and hand-finishing, ensuring that no two Errantes are ever identical. Presented in museum-quality condition, Set of Five Earthbound Wanderers requires only a stable indoor tabletop or pedestal, making it a compelling focal point for contemporary interiors, gallery installations, and curated collections aligned with 1stDibs campaigns spotlighting natural materials and organic design.

Óscar Aldonza Torres (b. 1976, Santiago de Compostela) is a sculptor and Sculpture Professor at EASD Mestre Mateo. He holds a Diploma in Volume Techniques from EASD Mestre Mateo, a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, and an MA in Art Heritage Management from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Winner of the 1st Prize at the XIV Open-Air Sculpture Symposium in O Grove and 1st Accésit of the Francisco Asorey International Sculpture Prize (Cambados), his work has been presented in venues such as the Salon d’Automne in Paris, O Rectángulo de Ouro in Portugal, “Respostas sen preguntas” at Galería Sabor a Menta (Santiago de Compostela), and “Animalium” at the MIHL Museum (Lugo), among others. In his sculptural practice, Óscar Aldonza Torres positions the human figure as an intimate mirror, reflecting universal fears and inner doubts. His creative process—both impulsive and experimental—is underpinned by rigorous material research, allowing forms to emerge organically as each work evolves. Predominantly working in series, Aldonza Torres embraces ambivalence and conceptual openness, crafting open-ended narratives that invite viewers to engage emotionally—ranging from identification to repulsion and intrigue—and to complete the dialogue with their own perceptions.
