About the Item

This contemporary figurative tabletop sculpture is by Paul Duval. This charming series of contemporary indoor sculptures showcases Quebec artist Paul Duval’s skill in capturing the human ‘condition’ in simple form. Each clay-coloured paper mache and wire sculpture possesses a distinctive personality expressed in a pose and a gesture. Charlie stands tall, head turned, arms by his side engaging the viewer to ask, what is he thinking? “Whether with one, two or more characters, I try to give the impression that my sculptures are observing us so that they become witnesses to our daily life.” Paul Duval Paul Duval is a member of the Canadian Sculptors Society and of the Conseil de la sculpture du Québec. He studied Monumental Sculpture at Université de Rimouski, casting at Maison des métiers d’art, Québec, and soldering at Cimic, Saint-Georges, Québec. In addition to his full-time work as an artist, Duval is Technical Director, Symposium international de la sculpture, Beauce-Art, in Saint Georges De Beauce, Québec.
