Heriberto Mora
Women - Bronze 34" Sculpture on Natural Mahogany Stand

2014

About the Item

This bronze sculpture speaks to the nurturing of women with the small symbol of the home on the top of the women's head. Within the outline of the women is the complexity of women. The stand is a natural mahogany which is 20 " wide. This sculpture can also be mounted on a wall. Heriberto Mora was born in Havana, Cuba. He graduated from the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, made his way to Spain and in 1993 arrived in Florida. The central theme of his moving studies is the human being, its ongoing spiritual quest and its interaction with the environment. His paintings are done exclusively in oil and reflect the tension between the spiritual and material work, between visible and invisible reality. Over the last seventeen years Mora has had over twenty solo gallery exhibitions as well as dozens of group shows throughout the United States, Spain, Panama, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. His work is featured in The Lowe Art Museum and the Frost Art Museum in Miami, the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, the Museo Berardo in Lisbon, the Snite Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame and the Nassau County Museum of Art in New York. Mora’s works appear in private collections in Madrid, Paris, New York, Bogota, Miami, Washington D.C., Havana, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Monterrey and San Juan. He has been featured in auctions at Sotheby’s, Christie’s, the Miami Museum of Art and New York’s Contemporary Cuban Art Fair. Three of his works were used in a Hollywood film produced by Quentin Tarantino and his oils have appeared as the covers for twelve different books.
