About the Item
Noa Bornstein's bronze sculpture "Peace Gorilla" extends her arm in a non-verbal greeting across the species divide, as if to say, “Hello, peace, friend.” In her current location across from the United Nations in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in New York City, "Peace Gorilla" promotes peace between humans. The sculpture welcomes a “hi-five” palm-to-palm or at a distance, and even offers a friendly, sturdy perch to those so inclined. Perfect for a public setting!
"Peace Gorilla" is an edition of six. The artist imagines one placed on each continent. The sculpture was cast using the traditional French sand-casting method, where no rubber mold is needed.
The price and dimensions listed are for the bronze sculpture only. The base pictured in the first three images (not included) is 8” x 48” x 48”, and is cast with the words for "friend" in 90 languages, beginning with the six official languages of the U.N. Noa Bornstein
Noa Bornstein was born in San Rafael, California, and grew up mostly in Los Angeles. She has lived and worked in New York City since 1986. Bornstein holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Her sculptures have been shown in many indoor and outdoor venues, including at the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art in Florida, Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn, and Grounds for Sculpture, Toad Hall Gallery in New Jersey. Public installations include Lakeland, Florida, sponsored by the Polk Museum of Art, TriBeCa Park in Manhattan, as well as several parks in New Jersey and Baltimore. In 2009, the Walter Randel Gallery in New York City exhibited Bornstein’s sculptures as part of a group show integrated with ancient sculptures from around the world. Her work has been featured in Art in America and in Artnews, among many other publications.

After completing his studies at the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts in Sant Jordi, Barcelona, Jorge Borrás moved to France1.
His works, especially his bronzes, are sold in major auctions mainly in France (Versailles, Drouot, Saint Germain En Laye, Enghien les Bains, etc. June 30, 1992, two bronzes were sold at Christie's in London) 2. Wild animals, some endangered, are also very present in the work of Jorge Borrás, especially in recent years where he takes great pleasure in capturing the wild moment of his attitudes.
Passionate about drawing, he began painting at the age of ten and made his first exhibition at the age of twenty.
