About the Item

Richard Berner, Champ of Champs, 2023 Polyurethane Resin, Acrylic Base, Individually Hand Painted and Spray Varnished 25 x 12 cm (9.84 x 4.72 in) Edition of 20 Hand-signed and numbered by the artist Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity This piece is from Richard Berner’s 2023 solo show You Can Be Anything (*or Nothing). The show was an exploration of the ambiguity of art and its capacity to mean everything to one person, and absolutely nothing to the next. This piece is from Berner’s debut series of sculptures, marking the first time his signature cast of loveable characters have been rendered in 3D form. Bio: Richard Berner is an internationally collected artist based in Brighton, UK, working in a variety of mediums. He is best known for his distinctive and highly detailed pieces, using inks, fine liner pens and gouache paint. He created visual alchemy by constructing iconic images, often formed of countless figures or 'champs'. Influenced by the Surrealists, Berner draws upon the bizarre and absurd, citing Dali and M.C. Escher as his biggest inspirations, which can be seen in his unique and dream-like pieces. Berner challenges assumptions with a well-honed sense of irony and dark humour. Juxtaposing life and death, Berner invites the viewer to come in closer and devour an endless story of their own within his art. Woven through the intimate and dynamic images are powerful, surreal and very human messages. The champs are surviving and perishing within the same space. Hope and despair go hand in hand. They have been thought of as everything from lost souls to lemmings; Berner considers them all champs. This contemporary sculpture presents a stylised anthropomorphic figure with a minimalist, cartoon-like aesthetic. Smoothly contoured and finished in a clean monochrome, the figure features simplified anatomical details — subtle nipples, a navel, and male genitalia — which contrast with its childlike, rounded form. With a downturned mouth and vacant eyes, the piece conveys a quiet sense of melancholy and vulnerability, balanced by its playful, surreal character. Resting on a glossy black plinth, the sculpture carries both presence and intimacy. Its refined yet raw design positions it within the worlds of pop surrealism, urban contemporary art, and collectible design objects. A striking addition for collectors of contemporary sculpture, street art–inspired works, and limited edition design pieces, this artwork invites reflection on themes of innocence, fragility, and the human condition while offering a bold statement piece for display. James Higginson, Barberalla, 2024 Steel Set of three sculptures 28 (H) x 36 (w) cm 131 (H) x 22 (w) cm 84 (H) x 26 (w) cm Hand-signed by the artist James Higginson finds inspiration in mid-century design, organic materials, and photography, exploring the interplay of light, shadow, and color to shape atmosphere. Playfulness is central to his work, as he reimagines forms in new states to challenge their essence and invite discovery. His creative process balances planning and improvisation, where deliberate ideas and unexpected outcomes coexist. Cacti, especially the Saguaro, feature prominently in his work. Drawn to their resilience and mysticism, he celebrates their cultural and botanical significance, particularly their role in Native American traditions and their status as Arizona’s state flower. In the future, he hopes to create a platform for supporting and connecting emerging creatives, unlocking their potential through collaboration and mentorship. Money Lending Business – Shotgun Shell Art Lock Stock Guy Ritchie Portrait
Located in Manchester, GB
Jasper Leadbeater, Money Lending Business, 2025 Upcycled shotgun shells and spraypaint 58 x 70 cm (22.8 x 27.56 in) Edition of 6 Jasper is completely self taught. Having started his journey with a background in fine art and a passion for drawing, years of pencil commissions soon followed and became the foundations of what was to come. Curiosity led him to experiment with shotgun shells and he created the Ho Chi Minh piece in 2014, under the theme of 'War and Peace'. Having refined this unique medium over the years, immersion in the countryside gave inspiration to his first collection of works; combining the traditional country sport of shooting game with a contemporary approach to animal portraiture, creating original pieces using intricately hand-drawn and hand-cut stencils with spray paint. Progress and experimentation has led Jasper to focus his recent works on pop culture references and cinematic icons. A gritty, show-stopping portrait of Vinnie Jones, inspired by his iconic role in Guy Ritchie’s cult classic Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Constructed from upcycled shotgun shell casings, this powerful mixed media piece fuses urban art with industrial materials, capturing the raw energy and bravado of British gangster cinema. The golden brass shell backdrop contrasts sharply with the black-and-white figure, echoing the stylized tension of 1990s crime films. More than just a portrait, Vinnie is a tribute to the explosive visual style made famous by Guy Ritchie, and a clever reuse of materials once associated with violence, now transformed into fine art. Professionally framed in a brushed metallic frame, this original artwork is perfect for collectors of urban art, contemporary mixed media, or fans of British film legends.
