About the Item

The Dreamer is the new sculpture from Anne Curry, member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors. Her work is in major private collections around the world, from Bangkok to Toronto, the South of France to Los Angeles and has exhibited at the Venice Biennale. Drawing inspiration from plant forms, her work evokes the power of life at work in nature. At its core are the curves, spirals of growth, the unfolding of leaves and flowers, the bursting of seed pods (as here) - all of which imply controlled movement, a disciplined and mathematical progression. Monumental in scale the piece is inspired by an Arum lily flower, appearing to rise out straight out of the ground. In this piece there is a powerful sense of the immense energy within, what would in nature appear, a static object. The sculpture is shown in the artist's own garden and is offered in an edition of 9. The next cast is therefore 2/9. The option of bronze casting is also offered and price will be provided on enquiry as it is updated quarterly from the foundry. A key option in casting is your choice of surface colour. The artist's own cast is in a slate grey however for climates closer to the equator where the light is warmer we recommend navy blue, and a pale grey. We can recommend finishes (and provide samples on request). Casting takes 6 weeks and shipping and white glove installation are arranged and quoted by the dealer to ensure the highest level of service. Interested parties may be interested to note that below ground surface the sculpture is counterbalanced (or stabilised) by a metal plate which is then recovered by turf or other substrate. The additional images show the sculpture finished and prior to being collect for a mold to be made for casting. These are included to show different aspects of the sculpture and to illustrate how well it works also in a lighter colour.
