About the Item

eternAL I is an aluminium sculpture by contemporary Czech sculptor Ondřej Oliva, dimensions are 100 × 100 × 12 cm (39.3 × 39.3 × 4.7 in) This artwork is a unique piece, and it is sold with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. In this series of wall sculptures, Ondřej Oliva explores a geometric motif to which he assigns significant symbolic meaning: the circle. As he explains, “The circle is a symbol of eternity. If we want to reach eternity, we must enter the circle.” Here, the form appears to be composed of aluminium tree branches, their shapes stylised and transformed. The Czech sculptor draws inspiration from both nature and familiar, everyday objects—including certain foods—which he reinterprets to create original works rich in associations and layered references. Material choice plays a central role in his practice: Oliva works primarily in bronze or aluminium, favouring durability and a sense of permanence. For this piece, he chose aluminium, a medium he particularly values for its ability to capture the finest details with exceptional precision.

"Orion's Belt, " Abstract Steel Sculpture
Located in Westport, CT
This abstract sculpture by Joe Sorge is made with steel and black dye. A single strip of steel curves up from a circular base like a ribbon, curling at the top twice around. The sculpture casts intricate and unique shadows on its surrounding environment. The white pedestal pictured is not included. Connecticut-based sculptor Joe Sorge studied at the School of Visual Art (SVA) in New York City. While Joe's body of work is most often made with stainless steel which he sometimes dyes to give the forms bold, solid colors, he also experiments with stone carving, genesa crystals, tiger eye alabaster and others. He works with a variety of colors, finishes, and textures, to create the final piece. Joe's sculptures express the fluidity and tension inherent in the material he uses. His work draws on a modernist vocabulary to create abstract, often whimsical objects...
