eternAL III is a nickeled and Elox aluminium wall sculpture by Czech artist Ondřej Oliva. Elox is a hard surface treatment of aluminum. Dimensions are 100 × 100 × 20 cm (39.4 × 39.4 × 7.9 in). This artwork is a unique piece, and it is sold with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
In this series of wall sculptures, Ondřej Oliva explores the geometry of the circle, a form he invests with strong symbolic meaning. As he explains: “The circle is a symbol of eternity. If we wish to reach eternity, we must step into the circle.” In his hands, the circle takes shape through aluminium branches, stylised and reimagined.
Oliva’s work often draws on both natural and everyday elements, even foods, which he transforms into unexpected sculptural forms rich with references and associations. The choice of material is central to his practice: he favours bronze and aluminium for their durability. In particular, aluminium—used in this piece—appeals to him for the precision it offers, enabling him to render even the smallest details with remarkable clarity.
