Intriguing oil on masonite painting by the American artist Richard Kirk of a young boy wearing a jesters hat. Signed lower right. Circa 1960. Condition is excellent. WHISPERS Mixed Media on Board Size: 30 x 37 cm (including frame) A wonderfully expressive and brilliantly executed figurative composition in mixed media (oil, watercolour gouache), painted onto board. Two women in black headscarves are the focus of the scene, with very captivating expressions. The woman on the right appears to look almost shocked, with her mouth ajar and her eyes widened. The woman on the left stares directly at us, her emotion less identifiable. The scene is intriguing, making us question what these women have heard or what has happened. Their faces have been painted with brilliant detail, capturing the shadows on their faces as well as the aged skin of the woman on the right. These two women are set against a blue-ish green backdrop, making their faces stand out even more from within their black head scarves...

Under the sea Series. Nº 4. Fantasy underwater landscape. Oil on paper, (H) 50 x (W) 40 x (D) 0,1 cm. Author: Úbeda. The sheets that make up this project evoke a dreamlike world of seabeds. The painter submerges landscapes, forests, materials and terrestrial objects under the cold and silent ocean currents. A feeling of weightlessness dominates the viewer, while the moon floats between anemones, sea urchins and posidonia forests. The blue-green darkness is broken up with nuclei and horizons of light, contrasting with the ambiguous and mysterious atmosphere of the compositions. TECHNIQUE The work has been carried out with an innovative technique, where the fluidized oil is transformed into an undulating sea, to create impossible shapes on paper, which are later outlined by the airbrush, the palette knife and the brush.
