Guillaume Dubufe Prints and Multiples

Guillaume Dubufe, who was born in Paris on May 16, 1853, and died at sea off Buenos Aires on May 25, 1909, is a French painter and illustrator. Son of the painter Edouard Louis Dubufe, Guillaume was surrounded by his paternal grandfather Claude-Marie Dubufe, also a painter. Born into a family of artists, he studied under the direction of Alexis Joseph Mazerolle at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1885, Dubufe decorated the ceiling of the foyer of the Comédie-Française. In 1891, he decorated the ceiling of the gallery Lobau at Paris city hall, the hall of the Elysee Palace in 1894 and the library of the Sorbonne in 1896. That same year, he designed and created the backdrop for the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Paris. In 1900, he painted the panel for the Lyon main restaurant Blue Train from Gare de Lyon in Paris.
