Harold Edgar Wenck Interior Prints

American, 1886-1958

Harold Edgar Wenck, also known as Joe, was born in Fort Assiniboine, Montana, in 1886. According to an article in Arizona Kitty Kat (Vol. XII, No. 6), he had a variety of careers in the West. In 1951, he published a book of poems and drawings entitled Phantoms of Old Tombstone published by Arizona Silhouettes, Tucson, Arizona, in 1951. In addition to being an artist, he self-identified as an “engineer, scholar, adventurer.” Records indicate he was the illustrator of several books including, No New Frontiers: Eleven Stories Inspired by Arizona Sunshine by John Dun and published by the Roycrofters of Aurora, New York in 1938. Wenck passed away on October 10, 1958. At the time of his death, he was residing in Lakeside, Arizona.
