The underlying grid matrices in these paintings serve as metaphor for memory; while, the incremental and rhythmically spaced concentric rings are intended to reference time. The grids having been chased into wood panel, literally lie beneath the patinated and polished surfaces of these works. As light is absorbed from on layer to another, a delicate luminosity and depth is perceived. The notion of reflection becomes both metaphoric and literal.to

"The bamboo forest drew me in like a magnet. Walking through the forest paths was a totally Zen experience and I wanted to capture this feeling through my lens. I needed soft light for my delicate exposure - and total calm. My hike started out at first light — I knew finding the perfect section of the mile-long path would be challenging. There is never enough time in the day to get everything perfect — as composition is always critical. As the sun rose high, winds chimed throughout the forest.
