Cloudy landscape. Oil sketch on cardboard. Unsigned.
By Jules Pierre van Biesbroeck
Located in Paris, FR
Cloudy landscape. Oil sketch on cardboard. Unsigned.
This work will be recorded in the catalogue raisonné of the work of the artist currently in preparation.
Jules Van Biesbroeck was the son of Jules Evariste van Biesbroeck, a painter of Ghent, but was born in Italy, in Portici, near Naples, while his parents were staying there. (In the 19th century many artists made educational trips to Italy). It was a long visit: the child was two years old by the time the family returned to Ghent.[1]
After a short period of practice with his father, van Biesbroeck was enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. His first painting, "The Shepherd" (French: Le pâtre), was sold at the Triennale in Ghent. In 1888, when he was only 15 years old, he made his debut at the "Salon des Champs-Elysées" in Paris with his monumental work "The Launch of the Argo" (French: Le lancement...

In the Meadow, Springtime Dutch
By Cornelis Bouter
Located in Hillsborough, NC
Springtime, 'In the Meadow' by Cornelis Bouter (1888-1966) is a Dutch painting with figures and landscape in an impressionist style with early spring blossoms. Idyllic scene by a river under tree blossoms, this fine oil on canvas painting is very well presented in an original frame. Children play while mother peels apples in a pleasant afternoon setting. Bouter is known for his paintings of mother and children in interiors. This is one of one of his outdoor paintings in lighter color and lovely landscape. His paintings often depict domestic bliss with titles like ‘Contentment’ and ‘Happy Days’. His work has been sold by Christie’s and internationally.

The Mill, First Slaughter, original impressionist English landscape
By John Phillip Osborne
Located in Spring Lake, NJ
Known for it's timeless charm, the quaint Cotswolds of England are what dreams are made of. First Slaughter, Upper and Lower Slaughter adjacent to Bourton-on-the-Water are such places! The Eye Brook weaves through the Slaughters, affectionately known as "the Slaughter;" the name was derived from the local marsh rather than what one might otherwise expect! This original impressionist landscape exemplifies the historical importance of the mill in these hamlets as well as the warm and inviting feeling of the region of Cotswolds, England. Also exemplifying the English countryside in this original impressionist landscape are the thatched rooves, architecture, rugged terraine and locals lingering, all seemingly frozen in time! Legendary artist John Phillip Osborne, applying many of the principles of the Barbizon school of art painters as well as classic impressionism, was the leading instructor of the highly regarded Ridgewood Art Institute of New Jersey for more than thirty four years. Osborne taught a generation of his students to go beyond the obvious in portraying their subject matter in a composition striving to capture the genuine overall feeling of the moment. He had graduated with honors from Pratt Institute of NYC and then continued his studies at the Art Students League, also of NYC. Original Osborne oil paintings...

Summer in Cap Ferrat, original 30x40 French impressionist marine landscape
By Jim Rodgers

To summer in Cap Ferrat, in the south of France, just across the border from Monte Carlo, is comparable to living in a Faberge egg, with all of the intricate detailing and elegance one might dream of! Jutting out into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea, the peace and privacy of the best and the brightest is discreetly protected whether of the royal family or the international jet set and intelligentsia! Master artist Jim Rodgers has been painting for more than 35 years, having studied at both the highly respected Art Students League of NYC as well as the Ridgewood Art Institute of New Jersey. His work has been acknowledged by numerous publications including American Art Collector. His work is represented in the collections of Pfizer Corporation, The Rockefeller Trust and many other noteworthy corporate and private collections. This French impressionist marine landscape is framed in an antique gold wood...

Street in the Cotswolds, England, original impressionist landscape
By John Phillip Osborne
Located in Spring Lake, NJ
Known for it's timeless charm, the quaint Cotswolds of England conjure up visions of King Arthur and Robin Hood! This original impressionist landscape of a classic street in the Cotswolds exemplifies the warm and inviting feeling of that region of England, resplendent with aging shrubs, mellowed stone, locals lingering over conversation or hugging the building as traffic rumbles by on the narrow roadways. The artist, legendary artist John Phillip Osborne...
