Tom Ford took over as the creative director for Yves Saint Laurent from 1999 to 2004. Ford, like Saint Laurent, is noted for a hyper-progressive vision that tends to bring multiple layers to his design work. For Ford, this frequently manifests as an underlying or overt layer of sensuality. The 2004 Fall/Winter collection was Ford’s last for YSL, and featured a gorgeous array of Oriental inspired designs in jewel tones with fur accents. Featured in looks 18 & 20 on that season’s runway, these exquisite over-the-knee boots are the most memorable and coveted boots from the Tom Ford YSL era. Done in black silk, the boots have an undeniable sensual allure and are embroidered with large red-crowned cranes and fuzzy pink cherry blossoms that spiral around each leg.
