A good antique late 18th century carved French Provincial cherry wood armoire, circa 1780.
The armoire having a ogee stepped cornice (the cornice is removable), below is a shell shaped carving and a pair of carved doors, with panels carved in relief, the doors are fitted with the original hand forged steel lock escutcheons & door length steel barrel hinges, a key is present and the lock works with ease. The interior has two adjustable shelves and can easily receive a hanging rail, which Bloomsbury can install at no extra cost in our professional workshops if requested.
The armoire is raised on short cabriole legs with scrolled feet joined by a shaped skirt with a corresponding shell shaped carving, condition is very good, this very handsome late 1700s French armoire...

A very rare antique George III English Mahogany secretary bookcase, with a fitted collector's or doctor's cabinet to the base, circa 1790.
The bookcase in two sections; the top section with a flared cornice with a frieze of dentil molding below, the bookcase with twin glazed doors with intersecting curvilenear astragals, the doors enclosing a pair of adjustable shelves.
The base having a deep drawer with a locking fall front desk, fitted with a tooled & gilded leather writing surface, and a fitted interior with pigeonholes with removable doors and drawers each fitted with an oval gilded name label. Below are a pair of locking doors enclosing an elaborately fitted interior; comprising one long shallow tray shaped drawer above a host of 13 drawers of various sizes, all with the original brass hardware and corresponding oval gilded name tag, to the left side is a file space.

An exceptional French antique Napoleon III inlaid ebonized & ormolu mounted marble top secretaire chest, circa 1860.
This superb antique French secretaire abattant has a black & white veined marble top, with a reverse breakfront gilded bronze frieze below, the front of the secretaire is very finely inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl & gilt bronze 'rope twist' decoration. The chest has eight drawer fronts with gilded cast bronze garland decorated lock escutcheons, three of the drawers are dummy & form the fall front for the pull down secretary, which has the original blue velvet writing surface and engraved lock-plate. The interior is made of the finest flame grained satinwood and has two drawers with lozenge shaped inlay, the top of the chest with a pair of very finely cast gilt bronze caryatid brackets, the base with a corresponding pair of gilt bronze acanthus shaped brackets. The secretaire is raised on turned bun feet with gilt bronze mounts and a shaped skirt also with a gilt bronze mount, the sides of the chest with inlaid bronze stringing.

The cabinet in two sections, the top with a curved architectural pediment, below is a curved door tabernacle cupboard, flanked by a pair of columns with gilt bronze bases and capitals. The base with a series of four graduated drawers with shield shaped lock-plate escutcheons inlaid with bone, to the center is a fall front writing surface enclosing a fitted interior with a series of drawers, pigeon holes and a central locking door, the doors and drawers are inlaid with satinwood stringing. All the locks are fully operational and keys are present.

The two part cabinet comprising a two door cabinet on stand, the top having a carved & stepped crown, below are a pair of cupboard doors the rectangular panels in relief and carved with a lozenge design to the center, these panels are repeated on the sides. The doors are flanked with a pair of carved winged cherub masks with a carved foliate panel below, a corresponding carved panel is between the doors. The rear of the doors are covered with a mustard colored fabric and can be easily removed, the doors have the original hand cut steel lock and key and the doors enclose a single shelf.
The cabinet dates circa 1650 the stand below is from the mid 19th century, circa 1850, the stand having a single drawer carved with a saints head to the center & a carved frieze with arches containing carved acanthus leaf. The commode being of serpentine form and having three large drawers, each drawer is carved with Rococo scrolls and shell motifs, the drawers with gilt bronze handles and escutcheons. The commode is raised on short cabriole feet, as is common with these chests from Lyon, they are larger in size and have plenty of drawer space for storage. The drawers run smooth, clean and free from aroma and ready to store clothes or bedding, the chest is in good condition and is ready to grace your home.

A very fine antique French Provincial burl chestnut & fruitwood armoire bonnetiere, circa 1750.
The armoire is made from the most beautiful burl chestnut and various fruitwoods, to the top is a removable stepped crown, below is a raised burl panel inlaid with an ebony and fruitwood star shaped device. The cabinet has single paneled door with incredible burl chestnut panels, plenty of storage to the interior, can receive shelves or a hanging rail, the door having one long iron hinge & the original large reticulated iron lock plate with original key and lock. The door opens and closes with ease and the lock and key function perfectly. The base is fitted with a single drawer, original lock with wonderful iron handles & reticulated backplates, the lock plate elegantly decorated with two iron 'trees', the shirt having a lozenge shaped inlay with a stylized compass design, the bonnetiere is raised on tuned feet.

The cabinet with an ebonized crown and a glazed door below with arched panels, the door enclosing three shelves and the interior having the original grey paint. To the middle is a second ebonized band of wood and a single paneled door enclosing a single shelf, the cabinet with a corresponding ebonized band to the base and is raised on stile feet.
