20TH Century, Twelve Italian Wrought Iron Garden Chairs
Measurements: cm H 97,5 x W 47,5 x D 58. Seat: cm H 50 x D 45 x W 45
This series of twelve outdoor chairs, rare to find in this issue, was made in Italy around the middle of the 20th century, in hand-forged wrought iron. The elegant reinterpretation of the classic garden furniture models is inspired by the design of Mario Papperzini for John Salterini who found great demand in America and Europe, especially in France and Italy.
The iron elements, square section, draw a graceful and soft line and end at the top with brass knobs. Back and seat are composed of iron elements that are intertwined in a lattice emphasizing the austerity and simplicity of the whole. Very decorative is the system of support of the chairs consisting of curved iron legs and joined together by a crossbar on which rest the semicircle elements of the upper structure. Papperzini’s highly appreciated design is here interpreted with taste and elegance, proposing a line of chairs always suitable for any outdoor environment, such as a terrace, garden and patio, but also indoors.
John Salterini, an Italian immigrant to New York, formed his own company in 1934 after the dissolution of Salterini & Gallo, of which he was a partner, which produced wrought iron articles. The post-war boom led to the expansion of homes in the USA, whose owners wanted to own large patios that had to be furnished with elegant outdoor furniture. Salterini managed to offer them some of the most refined outdoor furniture of the time. Throughout his career, Salterini designed and produced a wide range of furniture, from tables and chairs to chaise longues, poufs and benches...

18th century, pair of Italian Baroque lacquered and gilt wood benches
This particular pair of baroque benches was made in Rome, Italy, in the second half of the 18th century.
Their wooden structure is entirely sculpted, lacquered and gilded in Mecca. It consists of a seat with a profile moved from which depart two armrests characterized by arched elements, moved and culminating in curls. The effect of great movement is enhanced by the decorations of rocaille taste with volutes and leaves that surround them creating dynamism.
The band under the seat, quadrangular and move, is decorated with rocaille elements and framed with reserve that creates curls in some points of connection. The six curved legs, characteristic of the Baroque era, are decorated with phytomorphic elements and end with a curly...

18th Century, Pair of Italian Rococò Carved Giltwood Benches
Located in IT
18th Century, pair of Italian Rococo carved giltwood benches.
This elegant pair of two-seater benches was built in the second half of the 18th century in Rome, Italy. The structure, in richly carved and gilded wood, has the characteristics of the Baroque period.
The band under the seat has a mixed profile and is carved with rocaille motifs and rich floral decoration in relief in the central part. The four legs, curved and moved, have on the uprights the same carvings and in the terminal part of the foot emerges a scroll. The rear uprights, carved with curled end, are higher than the seat, in order to slender the image of the benches vertically.
The seat is lined with velvet from a later period.
These benches can be exhibited in pairs or individually in entrances or corridors, in living rooms and studios or in a room at the foot of the bed. They can also be placed below large paintings. Very decorative, bright and graceful, they are suitable both in contexts characterized by antique and modern furniture.

Measurements: cm H 108 x W 73 x D 77, seat H 46 x D 51 x W 61
The splendid large armchair, in finely carved and gilded wood, was made in Genoa, in the Louis XV period, mid-18th century. The pentagonal back has a wavy and curvilinear profile, and is decorated with carvings with phytomorphic and rocaille elements. The armrests, slightly moved and decorated with carved leaves, end with a volute and from this fit the seat. The band under sitting is moved and decorated with rocaille elements, as well as the legs, arched, and curly feet. On the back, a repainting of the ochre tint was done. The back and seat are padded and lined in red velvet with fine ochre and grey decorations.
The type of carving accords refinement and gracefulness to the armchair. The shaped backrest, the wavy armrests and the curved legs give elegance and charm to this seat, easily inserted in any furnishing context, both marked by modern and antique taste...
