About The Blue Paisley Fox

My name is Augusten Burroughs and I am the owner and sole operator of this store. if my name sounds vaguely familiar, that's probably because I am also an author, best known for the memoirs Running with Scissors, Dry, among my nine other titles, all of which were instant New York Times bestsellers. I'm a second-generation jade collector and have been fascinated by gemstones and jewelry since childhood, when I began collecting. I was the first man to ever be profiled in the jewelry section of the New York Times in a feature about me and my collection. Everything in my ...Read More

Jadeite Jade, Pink Spinel & 18K White Gold 30" Endless Necklace
By Augusten Burroughs
Located in Southbury, CT
This 30" Jadeite Jade, Pink Spinel & 18K White Gold Endless Necklace is a one-of-a-kind jewel created entirely by hand from 130 natural and untreated, hughly translucent deep green jadeite jade beads from Guatemala, each of which measures just shy of 5mm. 1.89 solid 18K white gold spacer beads that are faceted in four "bands" along each bead. This has the effect of reflecting light into the rich green jadeite beads and increasing their luminosity , but the beads also add diamond-like sparkle between each bead. The necklace has no clasp and is finished with a pair of natural, 5mm Burmese pink spinel beads. Although I am not offering this necklace with a certificate from a gem lab, it is because I have bought an enormous amount of Guatemalan jadeite from this particular supplier, and I tested his beads for years; all were 100% natural and untreated. I am also a Certified Professional Gemologist, with advanced training in jade. The finest green jadeite coming out of Guatemala right now is gemologically and microscopically identical to jadeite from Burma. Giving us jade lovers a conflict-free option for imperial and near-imperial jade jewelry...

Black Opal, Diamond Pendant, Lightning Ridge, Australia, Vivid Red Flash
Located in Southbury, CT
Black opals from the Lightning Ridge mines in Australia are the rarest and most valuable opals on earth. And Lightning Ridge black opals that display a vivid red flash are the most valuable opals of all. This pendant is a perfect example of why these rare, precious opals are so coveted. With a superb cut and gleaming high polish, this solid (not a double or a triplet) Australian black opal from the Lightning Ridge mines has an organic, loosely triangular form and weighs approximately 2.42 carats. The gem flashes brilliant, vivid red, yellow, turquoise, purple and cobalt blue. The natural beauty of the stone has been maximized to its most magnificent potential by a skilled lapidary artist. Set within a custom 18k yellow gold frame -that exposes the rear of the opal, so that you can see with your own eyes that this is a solid black opal- and featuring a bail set with a .03ct VS brilliant round diamond. A 20" .4mm solid 18K Italian gold chain...
