About an Artist: Irena Orlov is a Los Angeles-based contemporary multidisciplinary visual artist whose work uses a combination of both traditional and new media. In a blending of traditional and new media, Irena Orlov developed special techniques which continue to give her art a unique look and aesthetic. While the majority of her works are done with mixed media, she also creates with acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolors and pencil. Much of her art has been implemented in renowned hotels, wellness and corporate settings across the world. This exposure played a pivotal role in Slonem’s artistic career, as it aided in his decision to move to New York in 1973. In this original acrylic paint on canvas, Jose Palacios depicts a figure in a neo-cubist and pop art style in the shower. Using vibrant blues, pinks, purples, greens and yellows she is standing in the bath tub as the stream of water from the shower sprays over her. The style is reminiscent of Roy Lichtenstein and Picasso. Palacios' work is characterized by it's geometry, precision of his figures and the use of a refreshing and bold palette. Jose Palacios was born in Spain in 1970. A self taught artist, he began his career in the world of comic books and illustration publications. He later transitioned to graphic design and street art. Jose was greatly influenced by the "Movida Madrileña" an explosive cultural period in the 1980's during Spain's transition from dictatorship to democracy which produced arist's such as Ceesepe, Fernando Vicente, Ana Juan, Ouka Leele and Javier de Juan.

My Companion is a painting that highlights the relationship that existed between human and their pet, especially dogs. The untold loyalty, devotion, love, intimacy, and friendliness are very evident in this painting. The love which humans cannot get from fellow humans is being received by animals. My Companion shows that it is not gainsaying that humans receive succor from animals from time immemorial. The dog is seen imitating the lady by holding a flower just like the lady does. The icons and motifs generated from peacock feathers are weaved around the lady to reflect the elegance, pride, and independent status of the subject.
