About the Item

Late 18th century, early 19th century Ottoman Empire A precious and very old pair of mules for the harem in the Ottoman Empire. Rigid curved shape covered with pink silk satin with a pointed instep. Rich embroidery with a silver blade Tughra with a cardboard core and gold canetille forming a relief. The cream taffeta pleated ribbons around the edges are badly damaged and the sole is made of brown leather. There are scratches and micro-stains and a few pulled threads in the embroidery. However, the condition is stable. Ottoman mules from such an ancient period are very rare. Dimensions: approximately 25 cm x 8 cm.
