About the Item

This late 1900s to early 1910s cotton whitework midi dress is in great wearable condition. Fashioned from lightweight cotton with filet lace rose design inserts throughout the chest, cuffs and hem of the dress creating a beautiful Edwardian look. Embroidered on the dress with complimentary white thread are small delicate flowers, possibly honeysuckle, and intricate squares in a circular design that have been expertly placed throughout. There is a white mesh inlay inside the top of the dress which lines the bodice. This lovely summer tea dress closes at the waist with a succession of hook and eyes, and then continues to be closed with poppers down the front side of the dress. A sash belt would have hidden the waist band and fastenings during the period and we love how these are being repurposed by our bridal customers as their wedding dresses today. The dress is in absolutely beautiful condition for its age and was expertly crafted by hand; it has no size or composition label. The lace and muslin cotton are fresh white and in almost perfect condition save for a small darned repair close to a bodice seam which we have completed in our restoration studio. We have expertly shorted and replaced the lace trim on the cuffs as it was in very bad condition and could not be salvaged. This dress will best fit up to a UK size 6-8 or US size 2-4 on account of the small waist. MEASUREMENTS Bust - 35. (81.5 cm) Waist - 25 in. (71.6 cm) Hip - 44in. (112 cm) Length - 45 in.
